Biographical Note

Lorrie PaintingLorrie B. Turner has been painting all her life. She took her first ‘professional’ lesson at age eight and had her first exhibition by age twelve. Her subjects: the urban landscape, seascapes, still life, and an endless variety of subjects and environments… anything that catches her fancy. The very act of painting is an expression of controlled emotion. Painting outdoors or from life is her first love. Doing so, she has often created traffic jams in the middle of a busy city street. At other times she might seek the Zen-like “aloneness” of an autumn beach.
Turner lived in New York City and Long Island until 2004, when she migrated south to Florida. Here she can paint outdoors year round – comfortably. She has been an instructor at the Pastel Society of America School for “Pastels Only”, in New York City at the National Art Club, for several years, and now teaches privately in her studio. She has exhibited her paintings throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Europe and China, and is included in many private and corporate collections. Lorrie teaches privately, in her studio, gives demonstrations and workshops both nationally and in Europe. She is available to work with you at her location or yours.
